TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR HOME:
What type of house do you have? Is it modern? Rustic? Traditional? What type of materials are used (inside and out)?
WHAT STYLE DO YOU WANT TO REFLECT?:
Do you want to continue any of the materials or characteristics of your home into your hardscape? Do you want a more relaxed, informal feel? Or do you prefer order and formality?

Just as products range in color and size, they also range in cost. Keep in mind, any hardscape project is ultimately a great investment to your home and property.
NATURAL VS MANUFACTURED MATERIALS:
This is mainly a personal preference. Natural materials have a timeless quality and character to them. For example, fieldstone or even full color flagstone. There will be natural flaws and imperfections, variation of colors and more detailed installation, but the end result can be classic and breathtaking. On the other hand, technology has greatly improved manufactured concrete products such as "pavers" or segmental retaining wall units. The textures, sizes, colors and shapes can give you virtually any look you desire, with a more convenient installation. Blending both material types can add even more options and interest.
